Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health records (EHR) in accordance with VA and federal standards
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and data security protocols for veteran health information
- Coordinate health information exchange between VA facilities and external partners
- Analyze and optimize health information workflows for efficiency and accuracy
- Train staff on health information systems and regulatory requirements
- Conduct quality audits and implement corrective actions for documentation
- Collaborate with clinical teams to resolve health information discrepancies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT credential required (CCA accepted with experience)
- Minimum 2 years of EHR system management experience (Cerner/Epic preferred)
- Expert knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and VA health information regulations
- Proficiency in data analysis and quality improvement methodologies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- U.S. citizenship required for federal position
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA security clearance
