Responsibilities
- Maintain and organize veterans' electronic health records in compliance with HIPAA and VA regulations
- Support medical coding and billing processes for accurate reimbursement
- Implement health information security protocols to protect sensitive veteran data
- Coordinate with clinical teams to ensure timely documentation completion
- Assist in health information system upgrades and process improvements
- Conduct audits to ensure regulatory compliance and data accuracy
- Train staff on health information management best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification required
- Minimum 2 years experience in electronic health record systems
- Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding standards
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA and VA privacy regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and health information databases
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA security clearance
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
