Responsibilities
- Process and adjudicate veterans' compensation, pension, and education benefit claims
- Conduct thorough interviews with veterans and dependents to gather supporting documentation
- Analyze medical and service records to determine eligibility for federal benefits
- Develop and implement personalized benefit plans for veterans with complex needs
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and community partners to coordinate care
- Utilize Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA) for claims processing
- Provide guidance on VA programs, policies, and legislative changes
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship required
- Minimum of 1 year specialized experience in benefits administration, case management, or veteran services
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and claims processing systems
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and empathy
- Strong analytical skills to interpret complex medical and military records
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with veterans and stakeholders
- Valid California driver's license (position may require local travel)
- Preferred: VA experience or knowledge of 38 CFR regulations
