Responsibilities
- Deliver Mail: Sort and deliver mail and packages to customers in a safe, timely, and accurate manner along an assigned route.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by handling inquiries professionally and resolving issues efficiently.
- Vehicle Operation: Operate a delivery vehicle in all weather conditions, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Physical Fitness: Perform physical tasks including lifting packages weighing up to 70 pounds repeatedly and walking long distances.
- Mail Handling: Sort mail efficiently at the Post Office and on the route to ensure timely delivery.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the assigned vehicle and equipment.
Qualifications
- License: Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record (commercial license preferred but not always required for entry-level city carriers).
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift packages weighing up to 70 pounds repeatedly and pass a physical fitness assessment.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with a diverse customer base.
- Background: Must be a U.S. citizen and successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
- Availability: Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and weekends, as needed.
