Responsibilities
- Manage municipal elections, voter registration, and ballot initiatives with strict adherence to California election laws
- Oversee official record-keeping, document preservation, and public record requests under the Public Records Act
- Prepare and distribute City Council agendas, minutes, and legislative documentation
- Administer oaths of office and maintain official city seals and records
- Coordinate public hearing notifications and legal advertising requirements
- Lead records management systems ensuring compliance with retention policies
- Advise elected officials on procedural matters and legislative requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field
- Minimum 5 years municipal government experience with direct elections or records management
- California Municipal Clerk credential (CMC) or certification in progress
- Expert knowledge of California Government Code, Elections Code, and Public Records Act
- Advanced proficiency in records management systems (e.g., Laserfiche, OnBase)
- Exceptional written communication skills for drafting legal documents
- Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders
- Valid California driver's license
