Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of City Council meetings, ordinances, and resolutions
- Administer oaths of office and notary public services
- Process public records requests in compliance with Tennessee open records laws
- Manage municipal elections coordination and voter registration support
- Oversee document retention policies and archival systems
- Prepare official contracts and agreements for mayoral/council approval
- Coordinate with city departments to ensure regulatory compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field
- 3+ years experience in municipal government or records management
- Proficiency in document management systems (e.g., Laserfiche, OnBase)
- Tennessee Notary Public certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Expert knowledge of Tennessee open records and sunshine laws
- Exceptional written communication and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced government environment
