Responsibilities
- Manage, preserve, and provide public access to official city records, ordinances, and resolutions
- Oversee municipal elections, including voter registration, polling place coordination, and ballot certification
- Administer oaths of office for elected officials and city employees
- Prepare and maintain legislative agendas, minutes, and official proceedings for City Council meetings
- Ensure compliance with state and federal record retention laws and public records requests
- Coordinate public information dissemination and transparency initiatives
- Lead records management digitization and modernization projects
- Supplemental support for emergency operations and civic ceremonies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of municipal government or public records management experience
- California Election Official certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Expertise in California Public Records Act (CPRA) and Brown Act compliance
- Advanced proficiency in records management systems (e.g., Laserfiche, DocuWare)
- Exceptional attention to detail with ability to handle complex documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for public interactions
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends during elections
