The City Clerk is responsible for maintaining the integrity of city records, managing official correspondence, and supporting city council meetings. You will be the face of our administrative office, ensuring that our processes run smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Record Management: Maintain and organize official city records, including meeting minutes, ordinances, resolutions, and contracts.
- Meeting Support: Prepare and distribute agendas, packets, and supporting documents for city council and board meetings.
- Customer Service: Serve as the primary point of contact for the public, answering inquiries regarding permits, licenses, and municipal codes.
- Issuance of Licenses: Process and issue various municipal licenses and permits in accordance with local laws.
- Documentation: Ensure accurate data entry and filing of all departmental documents and correspondence.
- Coordination: Coordinate with department heads to ensure timely dissemination of information and policy updates.
- Compliance: Ensure all office procedures comply with city ordinances and state regulations.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a clerical, administrative, or public sector role is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to learn new database systems quickly.
- Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professionalism: Ability to interact with diverse populations with courtesy and professionalism.
