Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of city elections, including ballot preparation, voter registration, and compliance with election laws
- Manage and maintain official city records, ordinances, resolutions, and meeting minutes with meticulous attention to detail
- Coordinate and document Sacramento City Council meetings, including agenda preparation, minute-taking, and public records requests
- Administer oaths of office and provide official notary services for municipal documents
- Ensure compliance with California Government Code, Brown Act, and public record disclosure requirements
- Lead records management initiatives, including digital archiving and retention policy implementation
- Serve as primary liaison between city departments, elected officials, and the public regarding procedural matters
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of municipal government experience with 2+ years in clerk or records management roles
- Deep knowledge of California election laws, Brown Act, and public records regulations
- Advanced proficiency in municipal record-keeping systems (e.g., Laserfiche, DocuWare)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to draft clear legal documents
- Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation strongly preferred
- Proven ability to manage complex projects with competing deadlines and stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting legal requirements and procedural policies
