Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce facility regulations to maintain security
- Conduct regular patrols and headcounts to ensure compliance with safety protocols
- Respond to emergencies, disturbances, and medical incidents with appropriate interventions
- Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Screen visitors and packages to prevent contraband introduction
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies during critical operations
- Utilize electronic surveillance systems to maintain constant vigilance
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred
- Valid California driver's license
- Ability to pass POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) examination
- Successful completion of background investigation and polygraph
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification
- Ability to work rotating night shifts (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Physical fitness to meet correctional officer requirements
- Strong conflict resolution and crisis management skills
