Responsibilities
- Supervise inmate populations in housing units, work areas, and movement corridors
- Conduct headcounts, searches, and security inspections to prevent contraband
- Respond to emergencies including medical incidents, disturbances, and security breaches
- Monitor surveillance systems and perimeter security to maintain facility integrity
- Document incidents, observations, and daily activities in detailed reports
- Enforce institutional rules and regulations through appropriate interventions
- Escort inmates within the facility and to/from medical/legal appointments
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status
- Valid California driver's license
- Pass background investigation, medical examination, and physical agility test
- No felony convictions; clean driving record
- Ability to work rotating night shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Basic computer proficiency for report writing
- Completion of Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) academy or willingness to attend
