Responsibilities
- Maintain secure perimeter surveillance and inmate headcounts during overnight shifts
- Conduct regular facility inspections to enforce safety protocols and contraband prevention
- Respond to emergencies and behavioral incidents with de-escalation techniques
- Document incident reports and maintain accurate shift logs per department standards
- Coordinate with day-shift personnel for seamless transition of critical information
- Enforce institutional rules and conduct inmate searches as required
- Participate in mandatory training for emergency response and crisis management
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
- Valid Maryland driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and physical fitness assessment
- Minimum 21 years of age per state correctional requirements
- Certification in CPR/First Aid or willingness to obtain within 90 days
- Experience in security, military, or law enforcement strongly preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
