Job Overview:
As a Cybersecurity Analyst, you will play a critical role in maintaining the security posture of the City of Chicago. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify vulnerabilities, respond to incidents, and implement robust security controls.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, analyze, and respond to security alerts and incidents using SIEM tools and threat intelligence feeds.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in systems and networks.
- Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
- Lead incident response efforts, including forensic analysis and recovery planning, during security breaches.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices.
- Provide security awareness training and guidance to staff across the organization.
- Stay current with emerging cyber threats and technologies to proactively enhance our defense mechanisms.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in cybersecurity, network security, or information assurance.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Security+, or CEH are strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, operating systems (Windows/Linux), and cloud security (AWS/Azure).
- Experience with SIEM solutions (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) and incident response methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- United States Citizenship required for government clearance eligibility.
