Responsibilities
- Develop and implement county-wide emergency preparedness plans for natural disasters, pandemics, and civil emergencies
- Coordinate multi-agency response operations during disaster incidents with FEMA, Red Cross, and municipal partners
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses for critical infrastructure and at-risk populations
- Train and certify emergency responders in ICS (Incident Command System) protocols
- Manage grant funding applications and compliance for federal emergency programs
- Lead public crisis communications through multiple channels including social media and emergency alerts
- Oversee emergency supply chain logistics and resource distribution systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Health, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 5 years experience in emergency management, disaster response, or public safety coordination
- ICD-200 certification and FEMA Professional Development Series completion required
- Proven track record of managing multi-agency emergency operations
- Strong knowledge of NIMS/ICS frameworks and federal emergency protocols
- Experience with GIS mapping software and emergency data visualization tools
- Excellent crisis communication skills with diverse community stakeholders
- Valid Illinois driver's license and ability to work irregular hours during emergencies
