Responsibilities
- Develop and implement emergency preparedness plans for hurricanes, floods, and public health crises
- Coordinate multi-agency disaster response operations during activations
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses for critical infrastructure
- Train public officials and community volunteers on emergency procedures
- Manage grant-funded emergency management programs and reporting
- Lead public awareness campaigns for disaster preparedness
- Prepare after-action reports and recommend process improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or related field
- Minimum 3 years' experience in emergency response or disaster management
- FEMA Professional Development Series (PDS) certification required
- Proficiency with GIS mapping and emergency management software
- Valid Louisiana driver's license and ability to work irregular hours
- Demonstrated experience coordinating intergovernmental operations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to obtain FEMA NIMS certifications within 6 months
