The City of Philadelphia seeks an Emergency Management Specialist to join our critical response team. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement emergency response protocols for natural disasters and public health crises
- Coordinate multi-agency disaster drills and tabletop exercises
- Manage public alert systems and crisis communication channels
- Analyze risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies
- Train municipal staff and community partners in emergency procedures
- Prepare grant proposals for federal emergency funding
- Maintain compliance with FEMA and state emergency management standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in emergency response or public safety coordination
- Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or equivalent certification preferred
- Strong knowledge of NIMS/ICS frameworks
- Experience with emergency management software (e.g., WebEOC)
- Ability to work under extreme pressure during crisis situations
- Valid Pennsylvania driver's license
- Clearances: FBI background check and child abuse clearance
