Responsibilities
- Develop and implement emergency response plans for hurricanes, floods, and other natural disasters
- Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies during crisis situations
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses for critical infrastructure
- Manage public communication during emergencies via multiple channels
- Train municipal staff and community volunteers in emergency protocols
- Prepare and submit required federal disaster preparedness reports
- Maintain and update emergency resource databases and supply inventories
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in disaster response or emergency services
- FEMA Professional Development Series (PDS) certification required
- Strong knowledge of NIMS/ICS protocols and Incident Command Systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Louisiana Class E Driver's License
- Proficiency in GIS mapping software and emergency management databases
- Experience with grant writing for FEMA and HSEM programs
