Role Overview:
In this role, you will support senior analysts in gathering, processing, and interpreting complex federal datasets. You will help translate raw numbers into actionable insights for government stakeholders. No prior experience in the federal sector is required; we value curiosity, accuracy, and a strong work ethic above all else.
Responsibilities
- Data Collection & Cleaning: Gather and preprocess large volumes of structured and unstructured data from various federal sources, ensuring accuracy and compliance with data privacy standards.
- Reporting & Visualization: Assist in creating clear, concise reports and data visualizations (using tools like Tableau or PowerBI) to communicate findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Statistical Analysis: Perform basic to intermediate statistical analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in federal datasets.
- Compliance Support: Ensure all data handling processes adhere to federal regulations, including OMB Circular A-123 and NIST guidelines.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with program managers and subject matter experts to understand data requirements and refine analytical models.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of data sources, methodologies, and analytical processes.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field. (Recent graduates are encouraged to apply).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with SQL or Python is a plus.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot errors or inconsistencies in data.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex data concepts simply.
- Interest in Government: A strong desire to learn about the federal government structure and public sector operations.
- Availability: Ability to work on-site in San Francisco, CA, as required.
