Role Overview:
As an Entry Level Government Officer, you will be the first point of contact for many of our visitors and stakeholders. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the efficient operation of our local government offices. Responsibilities
- Manage Inquiries: Handle incoming telephone calls, emails, and walk-in inquiries from the public regarding government services, benefits, and procedures in a professional and empathetic manner.
- Data Entry & Management: Accurately input, update, and maintain sensitive citizen data into government databases and case management systems in compliance with data protection regulations.
- Document Handling: Process and file a wide variety of documents, including applications, correspondence, and official records, ensuring strict confidentiality and adherence to filing protocols.
- Office Support: Assist in the day-to-day running of the office, including managing appointments, maintaining office supplies, and coordinating schedules for senior staff.
- Case Assistance: Support the casework team by preparing files for review, organizing meeting schedules, and preparing briefing notes for upcoming meetings.
- Compliance: Ensure all administrative activities comply with current government policies, health and safety regulations, and departmental procedures.
Qualifications
- Education: A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics is required.
- Experience: Previous experience in an administrative or customer service role is preferred but not essential; we value potential and willingness to learn.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain high accuracy levels in data entry.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to a diverse range of people.
- IT Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to quickly learn new government-specific software systems.
