As an Entry-Level Government Clerk, you will be the face of the county, assisting the public and supporting essential administrative operations. We are looking for detail-oriented individuals who are eager to learn and grow within the public sector.
Responsibilities
- Perform general clerical duties including data entry, filing, and document preparation with high accuracy.
- Assist the public by answering phones, responding to inquiries, and directing visitors to the appropriate departments.
- Maintain and update confidential records and databases in compliance with county policies.
- Sort and distribute mail, packages, and other materials efficiently.
- Prepare, proofread, and assemble various government forms and reports.
- Operate office equipment such as scanners, printers, and fax machines.
- Support senior staff with special projects and administrative tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Valid California driver’s license and access to reliable transportation (sometimes required for field duties).
- Willingness to undergo a background check and drug screening.
