Responsibilities
- Analyze pension fund contributions, disbursements, and investment returns using state financial systems
- Prepare monthly/quarterly financial reports and compliance documentation for regulatory bodies
- Assist in actuarial valuations and benefit projections for public employee retirement plans
- Collaborate with investment teams to monitor fund performance against benchmarks
- Support legislative initiatives by researching pension policy impacts and drafting summaries
- Ensure adherence to Virginia Retirement System (VRS) policies and federal ERISA regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 0-2 years of financial analysis, accounting, or pension administration experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic SQL data manipulation
- Strong attention to detail with ability to manage complex financial datasets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder reporting
- Knowledge of government accounting standards (GASB) preferred
- Virginia residency required at time of hire
