Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of food establishments, childcare facilities, and public swimming pools
- Investigate public health complaints related to sanitation, hazardous materials, and vector control
- Develop and implement environmental health education programs for community members
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and regulatory compliance documentation
- Collaborate with state agencies on emerging public health threats
- Provide technical guidance to businesses on health code compliance
- Participate in emergency response activities during public health crises
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- California Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) certification
- Minimum 2 years experience in environmental health or public safety
- Strong knowledge of California Health & Safety Codes
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Valid California driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Proficiency in GIS mapping and database management software
