The Role:
As a Federal Benefits Specialist, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of federal benefit claims. You will serve as the primary point of contact for citizens, ensuring their inquiries are resolved with empathy and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Review and verify federal benefit applications for accuracy and completeness in compliance with federal regulations.
- Respond to inquiries from beneficiaries and stakeholders via phone, email, and written correspondence.
- Investigate discrepancies in claim data and resolve issues through research and cross-referencing.
- Update beneficiary records in federal database systems with high attention to detail.
- Collaborate with team leads to improve processing workflows and reduce error rates.
- Ensure strict adherence to privacy laws and security protocols (e.g., NIST, OPM guidelines).
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship is required for federal positions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Social Work, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in customer service, claims processing, or a related administrative role.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and federal case management software.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to specific cases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
