Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and conduct regular security patrols to prevent disturbances and escapes
- Search inmates, cells, and common areas for contraband using established protocols
- Respond to emergencies, including medical incidents and security breaches, with trained crisis intervention
- Maintain accurate logs and reports of all security incidents and inmate behavior
- Supervised inmate movement during meals, recreation, and court appearances
- Operate electronic security systems including gates, cameras, and alarm systems
- Enforce facility rules and federal regulations with professionalism and impartiality
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship (required)
- Valid driver's license (required)
- Ability to pass federal background check and polygraph examination
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
- Ability to work rotating night shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Physical fitness to handle emergency situations and prolonged standing/walking
- No felony convictions and clean employment history
- Basic computer proficiency for reporting systems
