Position Overview
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Human Resources office. You will assist in processing personnel actions, maintaining employee records, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations. You will act as the first point of contact for employees regarding pay inquiries and general HR policies.

Responsibilities
- Process weekly payroll updates and assist in the preparation of payroll documentation for federal employees.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date personnel files and records in compliance with OPM and DOI regulations.
- Communicate with employees regarding payroll discrepancies, benefits enrollment, and leave balances.
- Support the HR team in preparing required documentation for the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
- Conduct research to resolve complex payroll and personnel issues efficiently.
- Ensure strict adherence to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and merit system principles.
- Assist in the onboarding and offboarding of new federal employees.
Qualifications
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Education: High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
- Experience: At least 2 years of general office or administrative experience; experience in a government or federal setting is preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to learn HRIS software.
- Background Check: Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain a secret security clearance.
- Attributes: Strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
