Role Overview
As an IT Specialist, you will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of our complex federal network infrastructure. You will ensure the security and availability of critical systems for our agency operations.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs), including hardware, software, and related peripheral equipment.
- Implement and troubleshoot security protocols and firewalls to ensure compliance with federal security standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA).
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for end-user hardware and software issues, including desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
- Monitor system performance and availability, performing regular backups and data recovery procedures.
- Conduct system audits and security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and implement corrective measures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, design, and implement new IT infrastructure projects.
Qualifications
- Citizenship: Must be a US Citizen and willing to obtain a suitable Federal Background Investigation and Security Clearance (Secret or Top Secret preferred).
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Certifications: Active CompTIA Security+ or higher, and/or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in systems administration or network engineering within a federal or enterprise environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Windows Server, Active Directory, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and virtualization technologies.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical staff.
