Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end administration and processing of federal pension plans, including accurate calculations of annuities, survivor benefits, and deferred annuities.
- Ensure strict adherence to federal laws, regulations (ERISA, OPM), and internal policy guidelines regarding retirement plans.
- Conduct detailed actuarial analyses and projections to assess pension liabilities and ensure plan solvency.
- Provide expert guidance and consultation to federal employees regarding retirement eligibility, vesting, and benefit projections.
- Prepare, audit, and submit all necessary documentation for retirement applications, appeals, and plan amendments.
- Collaborate with HR, legal, and compliance teams to resolve complex pension discrepancies and employee inquiries.
- Update and maintain accurate records of participant data, contribution histories, and plan amendments in internal systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5-7 years of direct experience in federal pension administration or a related government benefits role.
- Strong working knowledge of OPM (Office of Personnel Management) regulations and Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS/CSRS).
- Proficiency in pension calculation software and MS Office Suite (Advanced Excel skills required).
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of explaining complex financial concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to handle sensitive personal and financial information with the highest level of confidentiality and integrity.
