Responsibilities
- Manage and administer federal pension plans according to OPM regulations and federal statutes
- Conduct eligibility determinations and benefit calculations for retirement, disability, and survivor benefits
- Develop comprehensive retirement strategies for federal employees nearing transition
- Collaborate with HR departments to resolve complex pension-related inquiries and disputes
- Prepare and submit annual pension reports to congressional oversight committees
- Implement policy updates from the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB)
- Lead training sessions for federal employees on retirement planning options
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in pension plan administration or federal benefits
- Deep knowledge of CSRS, FERS, TSP, and FEGLI regulations
- Professional certification (e.g., CBP, CEBS, or SHRM-SCP) strongly preferred
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to complex numerical data
- Experience with federal HR systems (e.g., NSPS, HRConnect)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
- Proven track record of communicating complex benefits information clearly
