Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit pension plans including contributions, distributions, and participant communications
- Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations (ERISA, IRS, CalPERS) and internal policies
- Manage participant data, investment reporting, and actuarial valuations
- Coordinate with auditors and legal counsel for annual compliance reviews
- Develop retirement education materials and conduct participant workshops
- Oversee plan investments and monitor fiduciary responsibilities
- Prepare quarterly reports for county officials and regulatory bodies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 5+ years pension plan administration experience in government sector
- SPB (Society of Pension Professionals) or ASPPA certification preferred
- Proficiency in pension software (e.g., Millennium, Benefitfocus)
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a) regulations, and CalPERS requirements
- Advanced Excel skills and financial modeling experience
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environment
