In this role, you will serve as the face of the department, assisting citizens with permits, inspections, and general inquiries while ensuring our internal operations run smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Manage high-volume correspondence, emails, and phone calls for the department.
- Process incoming applications, permits, and forms with a high degree of accuracy.
- Maintain and organize confidential filing systems in strict accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Assist the public with questions regarding city services, zoning, and sanitation schedules.
- Prepare meeting agendas, take minutes, and distribute reports to senior officials.
- Perform data entry and generate reports using internal government software.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required; Associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of administrative experience in a government, public sector, or customer service environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and basic computer navigation.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to de-escalate difficult situations professionally.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening as per city policy.
