Responsibilities
- Monitor federal/state legislative developments affecting Charlotte's policies and budgets
- Develop strategic advocacy plans to advance city priorities with government officials
- Build and maintain relationships with congressional/state legislative offices and agency contacts
- Prepare policy briefings, testimony, and reports for city leadership and stakeholders
- Coordinate interdepartmental responses to regulatory proposals and legislation
- Represent the city at hearings, conferences, and government meetings
- Analyze legislative impacts and recommend actionable city responses
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field
- 3+ years of government relations or legislative affairs experience
- Deep understanding of federal/state/local government structures and processes
- Exceptional written/verbal communication and presentation skills
- Proven ability to build relationships with elected officials and agency staff
- Strong analytical skills for policy impact assessment
- Experience with budget analysis and fiscal policy development
