Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze state/federal legislation affecting Long Beach's infrastructure and economic development
- Develop advocacy strategies and build relationships with congressional representatives and agency officials
- Prepare comprehensive policy briefs and testimony for legislative hearings
- Coordinate interdepartmental responses to regulatory changes and funding opportunities
- Lead grant application processes for federal infrastructure and community development programs
- Represent the city at stakeholder meetings and industry conferences
- Track budget allocations and ensure compliance with grant requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field
- Minimum 3 years government relations or legislative affairs experience
- Deep knowledge of California state government processes
- Proven track record in securing federal/state grants or funding
- Exceptional written communication and public speaking skills
- Proficiency in policy analysis and legislative tracking systems
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance
- Valid California driver's license
