Role Overview
As a Senior Policy Advisor, you will provide expert advice on complex social policy issues, ensuring that government initiatives are effective, equitable, and compliant with UK legislation. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, civil servants, and external partners to drive forward key government agendas.
Responsibilities
- Policy Development: Lead the drafting and review of government policy documents, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and legal frameworks.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal teams, external organizations, and community groups to gather insights and foster collaborative relationships.
- Research & Analysis: Conduct in-depth research and data analysis to evaluate the impact of current policies and propose evidence-based recommendations.
- Project Management: Manage key projects within the policy team, ensuring timely delivery and successful implementation of government programs.
- Legislative Compliance: Ensure all policy outputs adhere to relevant UK laws, regulations, and government standards.
- Communication: Present complex policy proposals to senior officials and the public in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Social Sciences, Law, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a policy advisory role, preferably within the UK Government or the public sector.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of UK government machinery, public administration, and social welfare systems.
- Skills: Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with a proven track record of influencing policy outcomes.
- Communication: Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas to diverse audiences.
- Flexibility: Ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced government environment.
