Responsibilities
- Analyze and process retirement applications and pension benefit calculations for eligible public employees.
- Conduct comprehensive benefit counseling for members regarding pension options, spousal benefits, and survivorship plans.
- Review and verify payroll data, service credit records, and retirement eligibility requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of annual reports and compliance documentation for state and federal auditing.
- Respond to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person regarding pension status and vested benefits.
- Collaborate with the payroll and human resources departments to resolve discrepancies in service credit.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in pension administration, actuarial science, or government benefits processing.
- Familiarity with state retirement systems and applicable federal laws (e.g., ERISA, FERS).
- Strong mathematical aptitude and proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive personal financial data.
