Responsibilities
- Process Pension Claims: Review, verify, and approve incoming pension benefit applications and monthly disbursement requests with a 99% accuracy rate.
- Data Integrity: Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic records for all active and retired participants within the state database.
- Compliance Reporting: Ensure all processing adheres to ERISA guidelines, IRS regulations, and state-specific pension laws.
- Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve discrepancies in account balances or benefit calculations for retirees and beneficiaries.
- System Maintenance: Perform nightly system backups and routine maintenance tasks on the pension administration software.
- Communication: Assist retirees and administrators via phone and email regarding status updates and benefit inquiries.
- Documentation: Prepare and file necessary paperwork for legal and audit requirements.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pension administration, government benefits processing, or actuarial data entry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word) and experience with ERISA-based pension software (e.g., The Retirement Group, BenefIT Express).
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to spot errors in financial data and a strong commitment to data accuracy.
- Shift Availability: Must be available to work the night shift (typically 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM) and willing to work occasional overtime during peak processing periods.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly.
