Responsibilities
- Administer Pension Plans: Process and calculate pension benefits for eligible state employees, ensuring strict adherence to Kansas State Retirement System (KSRS) guidelines.
- Data Integrity: Maintain accurate and up-to-date participant records in the state pension database, including service credit calculations and beneficiary designations.
- Compliance & Auditing: Conduct regular audits of pension files to identify discrepancies, ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, and implement corrective actions.
- Beneficiary Support: Respond to inquiries and resolve issues regarding pension eligibility, spousal benefits, and lump-sum payouts during weekend operations.
- Regulatory Updates: Stay informed on changes in government pension laws and legislation, updating internal processes accordingly.
- Collaboration: Partner with HR and Payroll departments to ensure seamless integration of payroll deductions and retirement contributions.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in pension administration, actuarial support, or government benefits processing.
- Availability: Must be available to work weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) as per the standard government schedule.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with ERPs or HRIS systems (e.g., SAP, PeopleSoft) is highly desirable.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of government retirement systems, FERS, or similar state pension structures.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and data privacy compliance.
