Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit pension plans for 5,000+ municipal employees
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, and Texas Retirement System regulations
- Prepare annual actuarial valuations and financial reporting documents
- Manage investment portfolios and fund performance analysis
- Process retiree benefits and conduct eligibility verifications
- Develop pension policy recommendations for city council review
- Lead cross-departmental retirement planning workshops
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of pension plan administration experience
- SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or CFA certification preferred
- Expertise in ERISA compliance and fiduciary responsibilities
- Advanced proficiency in pension management software (e.g., Alight, Empower)
- Strong analytical skills with financial modeling experience
