Responsibilities
- Process 911 calls and dispatch police, fire, and EMS units with precision
- Maintain accurate incident documentation in CAD/RMS systems
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during critical incidents
- Provide life-saving instructions to callers during emergencies
- Monitor radio communications and maintain situational awareness
- Adhere to strict NIMS protocols and government procedures
- Train and mentor new dispatch staff during weekend rotations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred
- Minimum 1-year dispatch or public safety experience
- Valid Virginia Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) certification
- Ability to pass extensive background investigation and polygraph
- Proficient in computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems
- Exceptional communication and crisis management skills
- Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays
- US citizenship and Virginia residency required
