Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health records (EHR) systems ensuring HIPAA compliance and data integrity
- Oversee medical coding, billing, and reimbursement processes for veteran care services
- Implement health information policies and procedures aligned with federal regulations
- Conduct audits and quality reviews to ensure accuracy of health documentation
- Train staff on health information management best practices and system updates
- Collaborate with clinical teams to optimize health data workflows
- Stay current with evolving healthcare information technology standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Minimum 3 years experience in health information management systems
- Proficiency in EHR platforms (e.g., VistA, Epic) and medical coding systems
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and CMS regulations
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to obtain and maintain federal security clearance
