Our team is responsible for the upkeep of roads, bridges, parks, and public spaces. We pride ourselves on safety, quality workmanship, and community service. As a Public Works Laborer, you will work alongside skilled tradespeople to ensure Pittsburgh remains a world-class city.
Responsibilities
- Perform general labor duties including excavation, grading, and asphalt paving.
- Maintain and repair sidewalks, curbs, and drainage systems throughout the city.
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as jackhammers, rollers, and dump trucks.
- Assist in snow and ice removal operations during severe winter weather.
- Follow all safety protocols and OSHA guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
- Load and unload construction materials and tools efficiently.
- Clear debris and maintain cleanliness of public works sites.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record required.
- Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and machinery is a plus.
- Must be available for overtime, including weekends and holidays.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
