As a Public Works Laborer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the city's infrastructure, ensuring safe travel for residents, and keeping our public spaces pristine. We offer competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and the assurance of weekly compensation.
Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repair of city streets, sidewalks, and alleys, including pothole filling and crack sealing.
- Assist with snow and ice removal operations during winter weather events to ensure public safety.
- Operate and maintain heavy and light equipment, including dump trucks, jackhammers, and pavement breakers, under supervision.
- Conduct landscaping and grounds maintenance duties, including mowing, planting, and trash removal in public parks and rights-of-way.
- Set up and maintain traffic control devices, including cones, signs, and barriers, to ensure worker and public safety.
- Load and unload construction materials, tools, and supplies using manual labor or basic machinery.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and OSHA regulations to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
- Valid Texas Class C Driver's License with a good driving record.
- Ability to perform physical labor including heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and machinery is a plus but not required; on-the-job training provided.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Must be able to work overtime and weekends as required by city operations.
