Responsibilities
- Implement and Maintain Security Protocols: Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of security measures for federal information systems, ensuring compliance with FISMA and agency-specific policies.
- Incident Response & Monitoring: Monitor system activity for security breaches, investigate potential incidents, and coordinate response efforts to mitigate threats effectively.
- Risk Management: Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability scans to identify potential security weaknesses and recommend corrective actions to leadership.
- Certification & Compliance: Manage and maintain the accreditation and compliance status of assigned systems in accordance with NIST standards and Executive Orders.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide technical expertise and support for network security tools, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed technical documentation, including system configurations, security baselines, and incident reports.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: At least one year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-9 level. Experience must demonstrate a practical understanding of computer systems, network security, and risk management frameworks.
- Certifications: Active Secret or Top Secret clearance is preferred. Relevant certifications such as CISSP, Security+, CEH, or GSEC are highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with network security tools, firewalls (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto), SIEM solutions (e.g., Splunk, QRadar), and Windows/Linux server administration.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
