Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain network security protocols including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption standards
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify security weaknesses
- Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems for suspicious activity
- Develop incident response plans and coordinate remediation efforts during security breaches
- Ensure compliance with federal security standards including NIST and FISMA regulations
- Train staff on security best practices and emerging threats
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security into IT infrastructure projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in IT security roles with federal compliance exposure
- Active CISSP, Security+, or CompTIA Security+ certification required
- Proficiency in network security tools (e.g., Splunk, Wireshark, Nessus)
- Knowledge of federal security frameworks (NIST SP 800-53, FISMA)
- Experience with cloud security platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP security services)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance
