Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain NIST-compliant security controls across federal IT systems
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing
- Manage incident response protocols for security breaches
- Coordinate with federal agencies on cybersecurity initiatives
- Develop security awareness training for VA staff
- Ensure compliance with FISMA, HIPAA, and CUI regulations
- Monitor network traffic for suspicious activity
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Security+ CE or CISSP certification required
- 3+ years experience in federal IT security environments
- Proficiency in SIEM tools (Splunk, ArcSight)
- Knowledge of FedRAMP and DoD RMF frameworks
- Active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain
- Familiarity with Windows Server/Linux administration
- Strong written/verbal communication skills
