Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain network security protocols including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption standards
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify system weaknesses
- Monitor security alerts and respond to cybersecurity incidents in accordance with federal guidelines
- Develop incident response plans and coordinate with federal partners during security breaches
- Ensure compliance with NIST, FISMA, and DHS cybersecurity frameworks
- Train personnel on security best practices and emerging threats
- Manage security documentation and audit reports for regulatory compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in network security or cybersecurity roles
- Active Security+ CE certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- Proficiency with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) and vulnerability scanners
- Familiarity with federal IT security policies and procedures
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance
- Experience with Windows/Linux systems and cloud security architectures
