Responsibilities
- Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) to ensure optimal connectivity.
- Monitor network performance and security alerts, responding immediately to incidents to guarantee 99.9% uptime for city services.
- Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems to protect sensitive government data.
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal staff regarding hardware, software, and network issues.
- Document network architecture, configurations, and changes to ensure compliance with IT policies.
- Collaborate with vendors and third-party contractors to manage infrastructure upgrades and maintenance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in systems administration or network engineering.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, CCNA, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) are strongly preferred.
- Experience working in a government or public sector environment is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s license is required for this position.
