The Role:
The successful candidate will manage server environments, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and ensure compliance with state security protocols. If you are passionate about public service and have a strong background in enterprise systems, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain on-premise and cloud-based server infrastructure (Windows Server, Active Directory).
- Monitor system performance, analyze logs, and troubleshoot hardware and software failures.
- Implement and enforce security policies to protect sensitive taxpayer data and state assets.
- Perform regular system backups and coordinate disaster recovery procedures.
- Provide Level 3 technical support and guidance to internal users and helpdesk staff.
- Collaborate with vendors to ensure optimal performance of third-party software and hardware solutions.
- Document technical processes and maintain accurate inventory records.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; OR equivalent military experience.
- Valid New York State Driver’s License (required for travel to agency sites).
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration, PowerShell scripting, and virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V).
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and hardware troubleshooting.
- Ability to obtain a New York State residency and pass a background investigation.
