Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on municipal infrastructure including streets, sidewalks, and public parks
- Operate heavy machinery (e.g., trucks, graders, snow removal equipment) with precision and safety protocols
- Conduct daily inspections of assigned zones to identify hazards and maintenance needs
- Collaborate with engineering teams to execute improvement projects efficiently
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and city environmental standards
- Document maintenance activities using digital reporting systems
- Respond to emergency situations (e.g., storm damage, utility failures) with rapid deployment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in maintenance preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience in municipal infrastructure or public works
- Valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class B)
- OSHA 30-hour construction certification or willingness to obtain
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and heavy equipment operation
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and weather emergencies
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Philadelphia residency required within 6 months of hire
