Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, repair, and installation of public infrastructure, including sidewalks, curbs, and street lighting.
- Inspect and maintain parks, recreational facilities, and municipal grounds to ensure high standards of safety and cleanliness.
- Operate heavy machinery, power tools, and vehicles (e.g., dump trucks, backhoes, mowers) safely and efficiently.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests and resolve issues promptly to minimize service disruption.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of work sites and equipment to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and inventory levels.
- Collaborate with other city departments and contractors to coordinate large-scale projects.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Vocational training in a related field is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in facilities maintenance, landscaping, or construction.
- Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to operate power tools, light trucks, and basic heavy equipment.
- Physical stamina to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
