Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repair tasks on public infrastructure, including streets, sidewalks, and parks.
- Operate and maintain heavy municipal equipment such as dump trucks, street sweepers, and jackhammers safely and efficiently.
- Assist in snow removal, street cleaning, and debris collection during inclement weather events.
- Inspect public facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations and city codes.
- Respond to resident inquiries and service requests regarding public works issues in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ensure all work areas remain clean, organized, and free of hazards at all times.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Class C Louisiana Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Previous experience in public works, landscaping, construction, or general maintenance is preferred but not required.
- Ability to pass a physical examination and drug screening.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Basic knowledge of safety protocols and OSHA guidelines is a plus.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
